Update Your Jeans

Ladies, spring is here and you feel like you want a new wardrobe but your budget doesn't match your taste? I have a way for you to update the jeans you already own. Have you seen the latest hemline for jeans? It’s called the Step Hem. I like to call it the mullet jean; it's high in the front and lower in the back. You can get this look really easily in a few short steps.

Step 1: Measure out how short you want the front. An easy way to do this without a seamstress is to simply cuff the jeans where you want to cut. I recommend your jeans to sit just above your ankle bone. That way it looks great with booties, runners, flats or sandals. Measure out each side and mark it with chalk.

Step 2: Bust out those scissors, the sharper the better. Cut along the seam to where you marked the jeans then cut across. Once again repeat on the other side. Now you can really start to see the mullet shape.

Step 2a (optional): Have your kid interrupt and take your jeans. Run around after your kid, get your jeans back.

Step 3: Decide how big of a size difference you want for the hem. I went with 1 cm but looking at the final product I wish I went bigger like 1.5 cm or 2 cm. Totally your call. Once you decide mark it and cut some more. Repeat on the other side.

Step 4: Throw the jeans in the wash and wait.

Ta-da now you have an updated look without having your bank account take a hit
